The history of Grouse Mountain is one that began to come to the publics attention as early as 1949 when the first double chairlift was opened and in 1951 there was a lift installed and opened that went to the base of the cut in the mountain and began where the bus would bring skiers who wanted to ski the slopes of this mountain, many of whom were lodged at local hotels. This lift in 1951 was thought to be one of the longest of its time and both lifts have been removed and replaced.
The fun and excitement begin at Grouse Mountain with the Skyride that is North Americas largest aerial tram system with its breath taking views high above the trees and the entryway to the mountain and all the activities that it holds every season of the year. The Skyride can also be the perfect way to a romantic end of a snow filled day when taken to reach The Observatory for dinner with its award winning meals.
